Czech for foreigners within lifelong learning

Test of Czech language knowledge for B2 level and obtaining a certificate

Certificate of language skills at the level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for applicants for study at CTU who are foreign citizens (except for citizens of the Slovak Republic). The examination consists of 2 parts. Successful completion of the written part is a prerequisite for the oral examination.

The written part checks:

  • Reading comprehension
  • Writing in the extent of 150 words
  • Listening comprehension
  • Some grammar and lexical structures of Czech language
  • The written test takes 4 hours.

The oral part checks:

  • Ability to react promptly in everyday situations
  • Ability to speak fluently on given topics

Students are required to be able to speak on following topics:

  • Family
  • Lifestyle
  • Living and place where we live
  • Work and jobs
  • Free time
  • Nature, ecology and environment issues
  • Travelling
  • Fashion
  • Health and healthcare
  • Art, science and technology.

Czech advanced - Introduction to technical Czech language

One week intensive course in September, the exact date is always announced in late June on the website of the Department of Languages
Price: CZK 3,000

The course is designed especially for foreign students who begin studying in 1st year at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

Content of the course:

  • Mathematical operations, geometry and technical drawing
  • Materials and their properties, production of iron and steel
  • Vehicles and engines
  • Instruments and equipment
  • Energy and its sources
  • Environmental engineering
  • Charts and work with them

Presenting in Czech language

13 two-hour lessons, beginning of the course upon agreement
Price: CZK 3,000. The course is intended for all students who want to improve their oral presentation so that their speech will be clear and forward all relevant information correctly. Emphasis is placed on the individual approach to each student.

Content of the course:

  • Theoretical fundamentals of proper presentation
  • Practical training of spoken presentation
  • Preparing Power Point presentations on selected topics
  • Analysis of presentation skills using modern audiovisual equipment

Individual lessons

It is possible to attend one year course of Czech, "tailored" courses or individual lessons upon agreement.
The minimum number of course participants is 5.
The exact date of the course may be determined on the basis of agreement after paying the course.
The courses are completed by final test. After passing the test successfully, the participant will receive a certificate from the Department of Languages of FME at CTU.

Preparatory course of Czech for foreigners

This course is organized as a preparatory course to study at state universities, especially at the CTU, but the courses are provided also to meet the requirements of entrance examinations of other public universities. The aim of the one-year intensive Czech language course is to gain knowledge of Czech language in preparation for university study (Level B2 of the Common European Framework).
There are on average 15 students in class. The course is led by experienced lecturers from the Department of Languages of the FME of the CTU.
The students are not required to have any knowledge of Czech language at the beginning of the course as it is for beginners. If the students meet all course requirements, they achieve knowledge at level B2. The course is completed with a final exam and students receive a certificate of course completion, demonstrating knowledge of Czech language at level B2 of the Common European Framework.
In the summer semester, students of language course have the possibility to sign up for the preparatory courses in mathematics and physics organized by the CTU:https://czv.cvut.cz/priprava.php.

Подготовительные курсы по чешскому языку для иностранцев

Данные курсы организованы для подготовки к учебе в государственных вузах, прежде всего в Чешском техническом университете в Праге ЧВУТ, но учебный процесс проходит таким образом, чтобы удовлетворить требованиям вступительных экзаменов и других чешских вузов. Целью интенсивных годовых курсов чешского языка является достижение студентами знаний чешского языка для подготовки к обучению в чешских вузах (уровень B2 согласно европейской классификации).
В среднем в одной группе обучается 15 студентов. На курсах преподают опытные преподаватели Кафедры языков Машиностроительного факультета Чешского технического университета в Праге.
Начальные знания чешского не требуются, курс организован для начинающих студентов, но при условии выполнения всех требований студенты достигают знания чешского языка на уровне В2. Курс заканчивается выпускным экзаменом и студенты получают сертификат об окончании курса, подтверждающий знания чешского на уровне В2 согласно европейской классификации.
В летнем семестре студенты языковых курсов также имеют возможность записаться на подготовительные курсы по математике и физике, которые проводятся Чешским техническим университетом в Праге ЧВУТ: https://czv.cvut.cz/priprava.php.

Preparatory Czech Course for Foreigners

The course is a preparatory course for studying at state universities, especially the CTU, however the teaching is such , that it fulfils requirements for entrance exams to other state universities. The aim of the one year Czech course is to acquire Czech knowledge as preparation to study within Higher Education (B2 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages).

The average number of students per group is 15. The course is led by experienced lecturers from the Department of Languages, at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, CTU.

Upon entry no knowledge of Czech is expected, the course is designed for beginners, however after completing all study requirements students will reach B2 level. The course ends with a final exam and students gain a certificate of completion confirming Czech knowledge at the B2 level.

In the summer semester students of the language course also have the opportunity to apply to preparatory courses of Mathematics and Physics organized by CTU: https://www.czv.cvut.cz/priprava.php.
