The contents of the courses is continuously adapted to scientific and technical development of the energy industry and special attention is paid to rationalization in energy transformation and use of energy, including the use of alternative and renewable energy sources (solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, etc.). Naturally, there is also a great focus on economic and environmental aspects of energy engineering.

Power engineer controls a very wide issue involving the conversion of chemical and nuclear energy into thermal and ther-mal energy into mechanical and electrical energy, both in a large power station, and on a smaller industrial scale. Such engineer has an overview of the energy legislation and economic and procedural aspects of design and operation of energy facilities.

The aim of the Department is to give all students a deep theoretical foundation and the necessary overview of the whole sphere of Energy Engineering. In addition, students can choose from a variety of elective courses based on their interests, and thus get better and deeper preparation in a narrower field of energy (e.g. heat energy engi-neering, nuclear energy engineering, industrial energy engineering, etc.). Study of energy engineering gives you a good theoretical knowledge and thus possibility to get a PhD in subsequent doctoral studies.

The Department has its own laboratories with equipment at the highest level and they are permanently available to all students of our field.
