The Centre of Aviation and Space Research at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) cordially invites researchers, engineers, industry professionals, and students to the inaugural edition of the international scientific conference Future on Wings 2027: Advances in Sustainable and Smart Aeronautics (FOWINGS 2027), to be held in Prague on 5–6 May 2027.
The conference is one of the key outcomes of the international MechaTwing project, coordinated by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at CTU and funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme. The event is organised in cooperation with the project partners DLR Institute of Aeroelasticity, TU Wien, and Politecnico di Torino (PoliTo), with CzechInvest as an associated partner. Together, they aim to establish a prestigious international forum addressing the major challenges and innovations shaping the future of sustainable aviation.
FOWINGS 2027 will bring together researchers, engineers, industry experts, and students working on the latest developments in aerodynamics, smart aerospace structures, and technologies for environmentally responsible air transport. A strong emphasis will be placed on fostering collaboration between academia and industry and on advancing solutions that contribute to a more efficient and sustainable future for aviation.
The conference topics include, but are not limited to:
- Innovative aerodynamic concepts,
- Drag reduction techniques and flow control strategies,
- High-efficiency aircraft configurations,
- Novel materials and technologies for enhanced aerodynamic performance,
- Advanced computational modelling and experimental research methods,
- Aeroelasticity and smart structures,
- Advanced combustion processes and sustainable propulsion systems.
Accepted contributions will be published in a book of extended abstracts with an ISBN. In addition, authors will have the opportunity to develop their work into a full research paper for a special issue of Acta Polytechnica, a journal indexed in the Web of Science database.
The conference will also feature a Student Poster Competition, where the best student contributions will be recognized with attractive prizes. This competition will provide students with an excellent opportunity to present their research to an international audience and connect with leading European research institutions and industry representatives.
Registration and abstract submission are now open. Full information about the conference is available at:
